This passion project is the restoration and reimagining of a solid 1979 Vespa P200E that my wife Emily had purchased some time before we met. She rode and maintained this scooter while being a member of a Houston based scooter club called the Sunday Punchers.
Unfortunately, she was rear-ended by a hit-and-run drunk driver and was injured. She recovered and kept the scooter running, eventually using it as a backup scooter and purchasing another vintage scooter.
It was recognized far and wide as the "Emily is Strange bike," both rider and scooter being tough and intrepid. After a few years of being a backup, we decided it was time for a renovation.
I've always been enamored with stripped-down racers but wanted to keep the bike's identity intact so I did my best to update the style but keep the soul.
