I was born and raised in Austin, TX when it was still a small college town. The grandson of a structural engineer and the son of a tool maker and hotrodder. As a kid, I was obsessed with building scale models to the point of sneaking my dad’s kits hoping I wouldn’t get into trouble. To my parents dismay, I would often take things apart around the house to see the inner workings and then put them back together.
I am mostly self-taught or learned by apprenticing. I have a rather broad range of experience in manufacturing while specializing in prototype machining and model making.
Early in my career I apprenticed as an engine builder, then worked as a machinist in a fabrication shop, and a model maker for a small product design firm. Later, I worked in a waterjet shop, as a machinist for motorcycle manufacturer, a prototype CNC machinist and machine shop manager, and most recently as a model maker for both an aerospace company and a major tech company.
I met my wife at a scooter rally she was organizing in Galveston, TX. Check out the custom Vespa I made as a tribute to her. Our 3 children all have scooter themed names. Among my projects you will see many things I have made for my family over the years (wedding rings, jewelry, toys, lamps, personalized gifts, and more). We live on a dynamic homestead just north of Seattle.
My interests include:  vintage cars, motorcycles and scooters, microcontrollers (Arduino, RasPi), RC vehicles, robotics, materials science, geology, farming, cryptids, skateboarding and flying stunt kites.
I have a life-long passion for designing and making things that interest me while being driven to learn and practice new skills. I am eager to solve challenging problems and enjoy sharing my knowledge and mentoring others.
"Casey is a sort of Renaissance designer. With his sharp eye for detail, encompassing grasp of drive systems and vast knowledge of materials I cannot say that that I've ever heard Casey say "no" to an "is it possible?" question... which leads me to wonder, will Casey be the guy who finally builds a working Speeder Bike?
If you need anything designed, built, or fabricated I would hire no other person."
"Casey has been appreciated for his fine work and clever solutions. He is a quick learner, independent, and a pleasure to work with."
"I worked with Casey for 3-4 years as peers managing and creating Class A visual and/or engineering appearance models in Microsoft's Experiences + Devices organization. Casey had more experience than many of us, and voluntarily set up skill development training in specialized bodies of knowledge to keep our department at the "tip of the spear" for Microsoft Devices technologies and knowledge. This included hard skills in person and documented training guides. This was in addition to his normal duties, as he wanted to help a fast-growing team have tools for deeper impact.
Casey's background at Microsoft and previous industry experience were utilized many times to expand our workstreams for prototyping, as well as career development and team recognition. Having a peer provide support to their teams' development made working in Casey's orbit a catalyst for success, as I was recognized for growth in my career utilizing his peer mentorship.
From an individual contributor standpoint, Casey was an expert at taking fairly loose, low-resolution ideas either verbally or in simple drawings, and extracting the core expected deliverables from our internal clients. He would summarize these along with value-add suggestions for the customer's consideration in our weekly scrum. Casey's framework for summarizing progress and deliverables with value-adds was directly leveraged for our department's internal tool tracking product quality and customer satisfaction. He led reviews of his deliverables with clients and would provide consultation for design and program management groups at principal level and above. His delivered work was exemplary.
In our personal life I share a few hobbies with Casey and can say his benevolent approach to work is his authentic nature- he has given me invaluable advice and tips "mentoring" those like me with less experience, towards success. Casey's addition would be an incredible value to any team, particularly so where he could be utilized as a leader or mentor."
