This project was created by a need to protect my iPhone 4 from damage while being used in a shop environment. The design was driven mainly by the processes available at the time, CNC machining and Polyjet.
Mechanically, the design provided great protection from falls and impact, but I quickly discovered that the case shielded the phone's antennae to a high degree. Several materials were experimented with but ultimately only the bare G10 fiberglass material allowed normal functioning of the phone.
The design was very industrial, however the bulkiness provided increased durability and was positively received by construction workers and mountain climbers.
